History of the Times
The South Knox · Seymour Times was started as a monthly
shopper in tabloid format by publishers Sam and Kathy Hance for A.S.K.
Companies in 1989. Under their direction, what was then known as the
South Community Times grew in circulation and coverage area to serve
Seymour and South Knoxville, as well as many outlying areas.
In 2002, the Hances retained the services of Anthony Lambert as
production and design manager. Mr. Lambert brought extensive experience
in the newspaper design field, and revamped the look and feel of the
Times to better serve its readers and advertisers. Mr. Lambert directed
the rollout of a semi-monthly edition of the Times, followed shortly by
the adoption of a weekly publication frequency.
As the appeal of the Times continued to grow, the newspaper took the
lead in reporting good news and exclusive information for the
communities of South Knox County, North Sevier County, South Knoxville,
Seymour, East Blount County, Boyds Creek, Dupont, Alcoa Highway, and
Forks of the River.
Following the formation of Equinox News Publishing, Inc. in 2005 the
corporation, under the direction of CEO David Grimes, made a bid for
the Times. In a sale completed in April of 2006, Equinox assumed the
production of the South Knox · Seymour Times.
In April of 2007, Anthony Lambert left the company to pursue his future entrepreneurial opportunities.
David Grimes is now responsible for the daily direction of the company, and its publications.
