Battle of the Bands, the summer-long event which lets the best local
and out-of-state band talent rock and roll their way into the winner’s
circle, has another killer lineup slated for Saturday, June 30.
The latest installment of the Battle will take place at Big Mama’s Karaoke Café in Seymour at 10605 Chapman Highway, beginning on Saturday afternoon at 6 pm, on the state-of-the-art outdoor stage.

PC or favorite handheld device. You can also link to the site at

Sponsored by Big Mama’s Karaoke Café and the Tennessee Production
Center’s family of businesses, as well as the South Knox · Seymour
Times, the Battle is gaining even more momentum as summer heats up.
After a debut during Spring Fling 2007, which saw competition-quality
performances from Southbound Express, Melanie Hayes, Sons of Madmen,
Lost Mountain Sound, and The End of the Sky, Saturday’s slate promises
to showcase even more of our community’s musical talent.
At press time Dana King, Office Manager and Studio Consultant for
Tennessee Productions, Inc. was burning up the phone lines as she lined
up acts for Saturday’s show.
Bands interested in competing for the huge package of prizes in
categories for both professional/semi-pro outfits, and “garage” bands
with no paying gigs yet to their credit, should contact Ms. King either
at 577-5597, extension 545, or simply go online to karaokecafe.com,
click on the Battle of the Bands banner, and sign up.
The Café also awarded a free mini-chopper prize, provided courtesy of
Real Deal Motors, “Your ATV Connection”, on Saturday, June 23 at
midnight, in conjunction with their Honda Hoot Celebration.
The chopper was won by Josh Russell of Knoxville, who along with
hundreds of others was registered during the Spring Fling 2007 event on
through the Honda Hoot Celebration.
“It feels pretty good,” Russell told the Times when asked how he felt
about the prize win. “I’ve always been fairly lucky in my life,”
Russell said. “When I got the phone call saying that I won, I was like
‘Heck yeah, man!’”
Instead of keeping it for himself, the generous Russell plans to give
the chopper to several area children for them to enjoy. “I figure those
kids will have a lot of fun with it.”
