The word is out, the reviews are in, and the decision is unanimous - Craven Wings is a great place for a family feast.

The Seymour shop is rapidly becoming a staple for fans of finger food. The reasons? Great food, great atmosphere, great prices and great service.

With a menu based on providing the best wings and fingers you’ve ever tasted at the best possible price, owners Brad and Brenda Craven have built their bistro into a top-notch niche of scrumptious victuals.

New at Craven Wings is the chicken finger basket special, which includes their fresh-and-never-frozen chicken, hand-breaded and prepared to a golden brown turn, then rolled in a variety of available flavors from mild to medium hot, buffalo, homemade teriyaki, garlic BBQ or spicy BBQ. Or simply order them plain and dip them in the sauce of your choice. They have homemade bleu cheese dressing, and freshly-prepared Hidden Valley Ranch to provide a cool complement to their fare.

The special is served with a drink, homemade curly fries, and a side of ranch dressing, as well as the crucial celery stick.

Speaking of the curly fries, just before you place your order, they’re still a whole Idaho potato. The Cravens hand cut each order, before carefully lowering them into a fryer filled with zero-trans fat shortening. A few minutes later, another sizzling batch of their signature fries are in the basket and on their way to you.

Also new is a buffalo sandwich, and the introduction of a lunch-size portion of their popular buffalo salad. And like everything else on the menu, the sandwiches and salads are always made fresh to order.

If you like your food spicy, or if you’re just thirsty, get ready for a treat.

“They have the freshest brewed, sweetest tea in Seymour,” said regular customer Elizabeth Sheppard. Her friend Karen Baker agrees. I’m always telling Elizabeth,” Karen said, “that I’m ‘craving’ Craven Wings sweet tea.”

The fellows from Trinity Paper who stop by regularly put it even more succinctly. “Craven Wings sweet tea is the best in town, hands down,” said Carlton, Sean and Josh.

The secret to the Craven’s success is no secret. “We would like to give a special thanks to our great employees,” Brad and Brenda told the Times. “They always give us and our customers 100%.” The fine staff of Craven Wings includes head cook Matt Lello and front-end folks Brittany Lutz and Megan Case. “Thank you all for a job well done,” the owners said.

And don’t forget, police, fire and other emergency personnel always receive a discount at the restaurant, which recognizes the hard work under dangerous conditions that our hometown heroes endure. It’s their way of saying thanks.

Craven Wings is located at 11612 Chapman Highway, across from Seymour First Baptist Church, and can be reached at 577-5211. They are open Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 8 pm and Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 9 pm.
