There were chills, thrills, and lots of shrills as Halloween fun-seekers and music aficionados crept into Big Mama’s Karaoke Café on Saturday night for the seventh annual Skaryoke Party at the Seymour hotspot.
Headlining the event were four outstanding metal bands who set fire to the Seymour night with a series of electrifying performances on the state-of-the-art outdoor stage.
First onstage were the quintet n.u.m.b., who opened the show with a hard-driving grind with their brilliant set of original compositions.
Scorned appeared under the lights next, and blistered through a devastating set of tunes that had the crowd near the stage fist-pumping enthusiastically.
The Dead Sun Theory put pick to strings and sticks to skins next, and lit off a firestorm of metal that brought screams of delight instead of terror to the Halloween revelers.
Headlining the action Saturday were Facelock, a seeming perfect match for the event. With a stage show that brought to mind shades of classic Alice Cooper, the quintet blistered eardrums and eyeballs alike with their brand of metal mania.
Party-goers at the Café were also treated to a children’s and adult’s costume contest, with a $100 first prize for the best in show.
Squeals of fright could also be heard from Café manager Kristi Douglas’ own Haunted Castle, a horror -fest of epic proportions, built right on the premises and guaranteed to give a case of the heebie-jeebies to young and old alike.
