Bands from around the region wowed the crowd at the Seventh Annual Vestival in south Knoxville on Saturday, May 12.
The event, which is presented each year by the South Knoxville Arts and
Heritage Foundation, featured two stages with live music, food and
craft vendors, cake walks and children’s activities, and the annual
Mother’s Day Brunch offered free of charge to mothers from 11 am to
noon.
The event kicked off on Friday, May 11, with a Black and White Art
Show, with contributions from the world of film and art by the Cradle
Art Group and Charles Barber, as well as vintage photographs and
original drawings of the early Knoxville marble industry. Friday’s
festivities were capped by a screening of a classic western film from
the Riders of the Silver Screen.
Bringing fourteen distinctive music acts to perform for the festival
attendees, ranging from the South Knoxville Persian Music Ensemble to
Los Breakfast Meats, Vestival continues to shine as a premier venue
where Knoxville music lovers can experience styles from around the
world, in a comfortable home-town setting.
Held at the site of the historic Candoro Marble Company at the corner
of Maryville Pike and Candora Avenue, the hundreds of attendees were
treated to an afternoon of outstanding entertainment in one of
Knoxville’s finest traditions.
In addition to the South Knoxville Arts and Heritage Foundation,
the event was co-sponsored by the Disc Exchange, the Knoxville Voice,
WDVX-FM, and WEPT-TV.
